The perched villages of the Provence
Between the foothills of the Alps, in the hinterland of the Var, the sloping landscape boasts vineyards and olive trees. Former, medieval fortified towns still watch over this authentic part of the Provence. Nine perched villages still rise above the hills of the Pays de Fayence: Bagnols-en-Forêt, Callian, Mons, Montauroux, Saint-Paul-en-Forêt, Seillans, Tanneron, Tourrettes and of course Fayence. These villages with narrow, cobblestoned streets leading to squares with refreshing fountains, breathe the Provence that can be found on the colourful markets.
